Dear Hunterdon County Residents,
There are many reasons to love Hunterdon in the summer. We are a
bountiful county, a garden in the Garden State. I am excited for the
tomatoes, but no matter your favorite fruit or vegetable, you are sure
to find it at one of Hunterdon’s many farmstands or markets. We
are pleased again this year to participate in the Farmer’s Market
Nutrition Program offering a $50.00 benefit to eligible seniors for
freshly harvested produce. Please see inside this issue the details.
Also in this issue, please look for information on the Senior Art
Show. We are celebrating 50 years of showcasing the immense
talent of the senior artists here in the County. If you missed the
show at the Senior Center, please stop by the newly restored Historic
Courthouse in downtown Flemington where some of these beautiful
art pieces will be displayed in the months of July and August. In
September, the art can be viewed in the gallery of the Main Branch
of the Hunterdon County Library.
As always, there are many fitness and active engagement classes
and events this summer at the Senior Center. Please stop by and
pick-up a monthly calendar or check the website for the latest
updates. I encourage you to add your email to the list for the
monthly email blast that goes out the last day of each month. You
can call or send us an email at aging@co.hunterdon.nj.us.
Wherever your travels take you this summer, the parks, the lakes, or
your own backyard, remember your water bottle and sunscreen. I
wish you all a wonderful summer and of course, abundant tomatoes!
