On Thursday, May 16th, the Califon Council unanimously approved a Resolution to issue out an estimated tax bill for the third quarter taxes due by August 10th.
Califon’s Acting CFO, Amy Monahan, advised that by doing an estimated billing, the municipal office will not have to wait for the State to strike a rate sometime in July and then rush to mail out the bills. Now we can estimate what the tax rate will be and issue a third quarter bill based upon this estimate. Califon’s CFO advises that this is done in many municipalities now, especially given the uncertainty of the mail.
Residents will receive a tax bill with the 4th quarter taxes due for November 2024 and taxes due for February and May of 2025.
Please do not hesitate to contact the municipal offices if you have any questions!
