Operation Chillout is a Homeless Veterans Outreach program started by Ray Chimileski, a Long Valley resident. Operation Chillout makes deliveries of food and more to locations where homeless people gather. Each year on the Winter Solstice, Operation Chillout prepares a backpack or duffle bag for a man or woman filled with warm clothing, toiletries, survival gear and information about local resources. They are delivered to homeless people free of charge.
During the Summer they collect and deliver cases of bottled water, T-shirts and baseball caps to the homeless. All Year Long they conduct ‘street sweeps’ in impoverished areas to identify homeless populations.
You can help their efforts by making a small cash donation at their table at the Memorial Day celebration. For your donation, you will receive a car sticker that says “CLFN-Califon” similar to those that you would see on the parkway that state LBI (Long Beach Island). Come down to the park after the Memorial Day Parade and visit their table, to make a donation and receive a sticker and help homeless veterans.
