On Monday, May 26, 2014, the Califon Recreation Committee will proudly present its Annual Califon Memorial Day Parade. Starting at 11:00 AM on School Street, the parade will once again feature Saint Ann of Hampton Drum and Pipes, the 15th New Jersey Volunteers Infantry Company A, antique cars, scout troops, area fire and rescue squads, and more. The parade will proceed down Main Street and will continue on to Califon Island Park.
In honor of those being remembered, Saint Ann Drum and Pipes will play from the center of the CalifonBridge. A memorial service will held at noon next to the Califon Veterans Memorial. The National Anthem will be played by the Voorhees High Band while local scouts raise the American flag. The 15th New Jersey will close the memorial service by performing a Twenty-one Gun Salute as everyone pauses for a moment of silence.
Afterwards, there will be food and drinks for purchase by Califon Fire Company. Also joining the festivities are the Kona Ice Truck, Fun Fitness on Wheels, Kidz on the Go, and more!
Community groups and organizations, antique cars and tractors, floats, animals (with their owners!), musical ensembles, etc. are all welcomed and encouraged to participate in this annual event. Please call Gill Smith @ 908-832-2235 to register or for additional information.
For further details of the Memorial Day Tribute, please visit the Califon Boro website at www.califonborough-nj.org/ . The website will contain information in the event of inclement weather.
