The Borough of Califon will hold a Public Hearing on February 20, 2014 from 5:00 PM. to 7:00 PM. at the Municipal Building, to gather public input on the proposed Califon Stormwater Improvement. The project will involve the replacement of an existing culvert and improvements to drainage. Construction of relief piping along Main Street is also planned. These improvements are intended reduce flooding and improve water quality in the Raritan River.
Proposed recharge trenches and re-vegetation are proposed in open space tract owned by the Borough. The property is bounded by Academy Street to the west, Main Street to the east and Railroad Avenue to the North. The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has promised $665,000 for the project.
All comments received will be responded to in the written Public Hearing Report. Environmental Planning documents are available at Borough Hall, for public review now. Interested parties may also submit written comments to the Borough Engineer prior to the hearing.
