On February 14th, Califon Scout Troop 192 held a Food Drive to help the less fortunate in our community and to show the community that Scouts are here, doing good turns!
The troops were paired up by family and each pair was assigned a neighborhood in town. We dropped off grocery bags to each home with a note informing the homeowner of the details. It was a windy day so we did our best to make sure that the bags didn’t blow away! Then a week later, we went around again and collected the food that was graciously donated. All the scouts met up at our meeting hall, the Lower Valley Presbyterian Church, and gathered all the food. A few days later two scout leaders and a scout loaded them into cars and transported them to the food pantry in Clinton.
Thanks to the generosity of the Califon residents, we collected 910 pounds of groceries.
So thank you to all the kind families who donated. This very successful food drive wouldn’t have been possible without you!
